Would love to replace the 2.8 in my 93 dime with a 5.3l motor. My truck is a 5 speed, which i greatly prefer over automatics. Any way to mate the t-5 to a 3rd gen v8? Can't remember if these use bellhousings, a one piece case.

If so, Would it survive or can it be fortified?

Where any of the gen3 v8 trucks equipped with manuals, perhaps behind a 4.8....

that version of the t-5 would grenade under the torque of the ls motor. find yourself a mustang t-5, and use a gm bell.

And the WC T-5 still isn't the stoutest 5 speed available (compared to the TKO 500 / 600, Richmond 5speed, etc).

How much hp / tq are you looking to make? If you're at 350hp/tq or better, the WCT-5 isn't a choice I'd make either, but that's just me.

The non WC t-5's have no place behind a LSx motor. Even a stock "wimpy" (270 to 295hp) little 4.8L makes more power than the nonWC can handle.

Oh, and to answer your other question, there are manual transmissions available behind the 4.8, and I think the 5.3. But they're all truck transmissions with a granny 1st. Not exactly a performance trans (and shifts like a truck transmission).

But, maybe that's what you want.

if you check out what his faces build thread, his t56 has been adapted to the awd tcase. which means you can build a t56 4x4.
Whose thread are you talking about??? I know its not mine, I've got a 4L80E in my truck (I'd like to have a T56, don't get me wrong).

Yes, it is possible to build a 4wd version of the T56, I never said that it wasn't.

However, there are not commercially available parts for that build. All of the ones I've seen have been "one-offs". For example, Summit's Quadra-duece originally had a T56, and it had a custom tailshaft housing. There's a guy on Sy Ty that has one, again, custom tailshaft housing.

I'd love to see some parts that are readily available. I think if one started with the C5/C6 tailshaft housing, it would be easiest to build an adapter. But then you'd need to relocate the shifter, so I'm not sure its all that much better.
