I have a 2.2 and it sounds like a goddamned honda. Thing is I want it as quiet as possible so people can't hear I have to get it to 6k rpm's to get it to 10 mph in first gear. There's an exhaust tip on the back that the guy that had the truck before me installed. Is it this thing that is making all the noise? I don't know much about exhaust but it looks like everything else is stock. Any help is appreciated.

I seriously doubt the tip is making it really loud, my guess is the muffler has been changed out at some point take a look under there, if it's not a long ass muffler then its not stock.

yer lucky in that your 4 banger has a decent displacement...kid i worked with had a 2.4L Stratus with a decent muffler setup and it sounded deep and clean, not tinny and ricey. something with decent flow and a nice sound reducing qualities and a tailpipe=probably help out both in killin the honda noise and addin a lil easier breathing to the motor with a clean sound

just go down to your local exhaust shop and tell them to install a universal muffler and add a down pipe. it will be quiet when you want it to but when you are in the throttle it will still sound decent...not ricey whole set up installed shouldnt even cost you 100-150.
