Dude calm the hell down. If you're such a great driver, why do you think it's okay to take unneeded risks? Even if you do know how to drive well (given all the lessons you've had) you never know when someone else is going to make a slight mistake.

For example, you're cruising down the supposed safe interstate at around 95 which is near the cutoff for most S10s. Somebody checks their mirror, sees you quite a ways back, and starts to change lanes or merge. However you're moving too fast and now you've got less time to react because of your speed and the vehicle is much more likely to lose control because of speed. It's still your fault if something happens.

You brought the flaming on yourself. I mean I understand trying to defend the guy but damn. I'm definitely not a perfect driver, and I used to do some stupid stupid stuff. But you've gotta learn at some point that driving too fast and erratically is gonna get you a ticket if you're lucky or cause an accident if you're not.

dude...all of you need to chill...that crap was almost a month ago...he cracked the block when he hit the tree so no swap...now hes gettin a corvette...and for everyone who keeps questioning his driving skills, you cant say that youve never done anything stupid in your car....the whole part of learning is making mistakes and laerning from them,,,,this was a mistake for even posting as a thread...now i learned from it....douchebags

You are obviously missing the whole point.

It not about doing "stupid" things, it's about calling said things "safe".

Good drivers know when they're doing something unsafe (regaurdless of the reason for it, be it mistake, for the thrill, etc.....) and they don't try to say that it is safe. They know it is not.

Your buddy is pretty lucky. If I remember correctly from a safety class I took in the fall, once you get in an accident at 80+ mph there is a very, very slim chance of survival.
