ok well i found a new dime in my area and im wanna know ur guys's opinions. this truck needs to be reliable cause its my dd... and thats about all it needs to do lol get me from home to school to work to home again....

its a 95 dime, 2.2l ls style, reg cab, auto tranny, 2wd , apparently its got a matching fiberglass cap :barf: and alil under 150k miles (eek) they want 2k for it, i know i can talk them down to 1.4 u think its worth paying 1.4k for this thing? im also going to have my mechanic look at the truck before i even think of buying it and if anyone would be a doll could u run the vin for me ?

you cant expect much out of a 95. its not exactly new anymore. but I have a 97 and the head is fine so is the timing chain. timing chain chatter is another thing these 4cyl were known for. if there is a rattle sound comming from someplace down there then its probably needing a new chain tensioner and chain. they arent expensive but who wants to work on something they just baught. and the exhaust flex pipe leak.
 
i have a 98 with 205k on it and it runs really good. when i first moved i took this thing back and forth from pensacola fl to dalton ga. it ran great. once i moved up to dalton, i was riding on the interstate and my timing chain broke off. but now it is fixied and it runs fine, cept the damn svs light on the dash.

Twice within 50K? You used the same headbolts both times I bet.

im def having my mechanic to a full scan over the thing, test drive it and all that good stuff to check for anything wrong, im just really sketched im on a veyr limitied budget and i need somthing to get me around asap
 
If its it good shape $1400 isnt bad at all. I paid $1800 for my 95 5 speed with 50k on it.
 
i have a 95 s10 with 217K miles on it and i have had just the norms replaced i had the water pump replaced because i took it to the local shop to see why it was leaking coolant. and it def. wasnt that so i took it some where else and got the head gasket replaced and havent had a problem since it runs really strong and has no noise issues or anything i just now have to get the ac replaced but if i run it on vent i can get cold air blowin through their so why replace it hope this helps
 
damn, buy my 97!!

here in NC, you will see cars with over 200k miles easy, they dont rust, plus everything isnt "close" like it was when i lived up north, hell its a 15 minute drive on the interstate to get pizza, go to the mall, ect so vehicles in my area all have a ton of miles, but are mostly hwy. my bud has 205k miles on his 95 2.2 dime, original everything. if it ticks replace the timing chain\gears, make sure the head gasket isnt leaking, i know i bought a new engine for my truck and the head gasket went after 8k miles, i think they use a low qaulity gasket or something, i used a nce felpro when i put it back together, i now have 60k miles on the engine, problem free of then that one time.

alright awsome, im pretty set on checkn this truck out, just wondering if ne body can run the vin for me maybe save me the 100 its gonna cost me to have my mechanic check it out
