I did buy an Xtreme....in Richland, Washington.

And filled a bucket list item - drive some bullshit car cross country.

So on July 1st, 2022 I ventured out to the West Coast.

Hung out with some friends and charged the AC.

Was somewhat mesmerized by a large tree.

First Stop: Hermiston, Washington

At this point I was up for a solid 20 hours. LOL

Next stop: Montana

This was by far my favorite state to drive through. Also the longest straight drive I did, I spent about 14 hours driving this day, from Hermiston, WA to just outside of Billings, MT.

And we're on to Wyoming.

This was the start of a not so great time. lol.

The Xtreme seemed pretty down on power.

Grabbed some gas in Gillette, WY, and I am glad I did. That is about the only decent size city on RT90 in Wyoming.

Filled it up, starts for a few seconds and dies. I think oh boy, fuel pump. I, like any somewhat intelligent person, came prepared with tools (Which I bought at Walmart in Washington, planning on returning them in Ohio LOL)

So I start to take the bed off and find a nice stranger to help. Get a fuel pump ordered and delivered down the road from the local O'Riellys.

It starts!

So I started to clean up, put the bed back on, and went to get back on the road. I had planned to check out Devil's Tower and visit Mt. Rushmore that day.

Then, it doesn't start anymore. I was feeling a little defeated. Called back the local O'Riellys, and had them send another pump - no dice. They recommended a local mobile mechanic who showed up about 20 minutes later and had a scanner with him - although I didn't have a check engine light I had 2 pending crank sensor codes. Damn 96+ 4.3s. We check wiring and found no issues, sensor was some Autozone special....probably one of the many 'maintenance items' the prior owner did to the truck that either didn't need done or he shouldn't have touched. (He put the front shocks on wrong, it goes washer, bushing, frame, bushing, washer not bushing, washer, frame, washer, bushing, bolt. :ROFLMAO:)

Anyways, after that ordeal was over, and boy did I get luck relatively speaking, I was still able to make it to Mt. Rushmore.

Ended up getting there RIGHT before it closes. Drove the next 4 hours to my next hotel. (I was way to brave and pre-bought/planned my hotels with points prior to leaving. Might play that more by ear next time. lol. )

Got to witness a lightning storm over the Badlands in South Dakota for about the entire 3 hour drive, which was SUPER COOL. (although quite honestly I was about dead at this point)

And finally made it to the other side of South Dakota around 3am that night.

The rest of the trip was somewhat uneventful and less interesting because I'd seen the rest of this trip before (Previously Minnesota was the farthest west I had been via car) , I got over to Minnesota.

Then to Iowa (Gotta stop at Casey's)

And Finally, Home.

All in all, the trip cost me about $530 in gas, and about $1550 in total including the parts purchased in Wyoming.

I would do it all over again.

Nice find. Washington has a lot of good vehicles.

Now for the details.

I really wanted a fully loaded Xtreme - but was going to settle for anything I could find that was truly rust free. I have a friend out on the west coast, which started this whole thing. Everything out by me is overpriced or complete garbage.

Anyways, only concession I made on this truck was the color - I wanted Victory Red. Black or White were my second choices.

The insane thing about this truck is the mileage but also how stock it still is.

Right now it's at 172k! The TheftLoc code is still on the stereo face!

Such a cool find! And a very cool trip. That engine bay is so clean, as is the whole truck👍
Good to see you around and tinkering still. Nice and clean Xtreme. I've made that drive myself a few times between FL and WA and always enjoyed the trip.

Awesome! Good looking extreme! Great story!
Thanks for sharing. That truck was well taken care of for that many miles. Parts truck I have was trashed at 90k miles.
That's a beautiful looking Xtreme for it's age and miles! Someone definitely took care of it. I enjoyed the trip story, too (not the issues part :)).

The one I had in 2011 was trashed with 90k as well lol

Thank you! I love it. Values on these are starting to go up (Same with nice ZR2s) and I bought this one for about half what a lower mile (60-100k) one would have gone for, so I think I did OK. I bought it to stare at, but also drive. :)

Yep, nothing has changed. lol

Nice buy and that trip looked like fun! Did you get stopped for no tags?
Looks like a temp tag in the rear window.
Yep, had a Ohio temp in the window. It was fully transferred, tagged, and insured before I did that trip.
Running with a tag is no fun 😅 I almost made it to Michigan from Florida the last time I did, but got pulled over in Ohio. They accepted that I had Title and Bill of Sale, though, and sent me on my way.

I've also changed a fuel pump in Wyoming, on the side of I90 in the dark for my Blazer of course.

Good trip story!
