i really want these wheels in 18x7.5 but the tires that come with them are 225/40/18 performance tires..

i have an xtreme with a 2/3 drop..

not sure if thats the right tire size?

and could someone explain to me what the numbers mean?

like is 225 a thinner tire then a 265

and the 40 have to do with sidewall or what?

here is a tire size calculator.
the 225 is the width of the tire.
40 is a percentage of the width that = the side wall
they will fit as long as they are avaliabe in the right back spacing. with a 7.5 wide wheel i would say 4.25 b/s would be about right. as far as height of that tire it will be smaller than what you have now. a 235/45/18 would probably be a better tire size for you. unless you plan on bagging it real soon then you would need the smaller 225/40/18 to lay out.

is about a 7.5" or 8" wheel my best bet to stay with?
and does the size of the wheel matter with the tire size? i mean... if i get the 235/45/tires does it matter if there on a 7" wheel or 9" wheel?

for the front i wouldn't want anything over a 8" wide. rear you can go to about 9.5 b4 you may need to trim the fenders a little.
a 225 on a 7.5 is fine you could go to about a 245 on a 7.5 and still look good imo. to wide on a 7.5 wheel will start to look to buldged out.

ya i dont them to stick out at all! i hate that look. i was just wondering if its the same tire size for any wheel width?

not really they will either be buldged out. to wide of a tire to narrow of a wheel. or that stretched look to narrow of a tire on a wide wheel.
the sticky at the top is basicly what will look best on each size wheel.
