98 was a total redesign of the whole complete electrical system, including the addition of the BCM which controls a lot of things. Including the security system that is also different than the 97-95. That's likely where you'll have trouble.
Another 97 column would be a lot less trouble. You will have to switch your key cylinder or have a different key when done.
Why are you trying to swap columns? Are you sure it will physically bolt up?

During warm days, Efans kick on/off after parked and kills battery. 72F Degree and batter very slow to start.
Main Issue - Spring/Summer - Overheat in slow/stop traffic and blow AC Freon from presser...
On my way to work this morning all of my gauges, radio, wipers etc suddenly stopped working. Checked fuses quickly, none blown. Truck kept running, and once I got to work I check to see that it would start. It does, but everything else that works off the key has quit.

Hello everyone! Anyone ever had the head of the knock sensor come off but not the stud? If so, did you use and easy out to get the rest out? And, if so, was it pain to get out? This part is one of the stupidest, cheesy made part. Thank to all.
Sorry about that wait. I searched high and low for my original copies and couldn't find them. I finally found my book and scanned them all again, this time, I think they're better quality.
