So i got a new grille on amazon and slapped it on today. I initially was looking for something else so that I can get better airflow to the radiator and transmission cooler without the chevy badge on the front and this is what appealed to me the most for a reasonable price.
Just looking for opinions, do you like this over the stock grille?

Sorry...not my style. Why do you think you need more air thru the grille? Even with an auxiliary cooler, the airflow is more than adequate.

I think your new grille would look better color matched like the original was.
I can see your worries about air flow. Based on the vegetation in your pics you live somewhere hot. Being proactive isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Stock grill has plenty of air flow for cooling....UNLESS you have some after-market mods of which we are unaware. With respect to style, I like that after-market unit, but prefer the OEM grill painted black. Here's mine for reference.....

The air flow did not change much at all.
However, the actual appeal did🥺

Also what kind of prep work did you do before adding paint and what paint did you use?

  1. Read their instructions...paints are different, so follow what the manufacturer recommends....basically as follows:
    1. Remove part
    2. Clean
    3. Scuff with sandpaper, clean with water, scuff with finer sandpaper, etc.
    4. Spray with some plastic adhesion promoter
    5. Spray with SEM Trim Black (a few coats)
    6. Ideally you spray a few coats of clear next, but I didn't do that
    7. Re-install part
    8. Celebrate by doing burn-outs and donuts....

After market grill without a doubt! Everybody has the same BORING stock grill. I put the same aftermarket grill on my 2000 S10. Everyone compliments my truck. The aftermarket grill makes your truck look sharp and unique. If you want to be like everyone else then follow the crowd. Also the aftermarket grill makes people look twice as it has no dumb badging.
