i have a 86 s10 with a 350 and a t350 tanny and going to a 700r4 is it easiest just to pull the motor with the exhaust going along the crossmember making it tough.... to drop the tranny from below.... can motor and tranny be pulled without removing the header panel.... i just want to know what's easiest instead of getting into huge headaches

Pull the exhaust, and then drop the tranny. Unless you have to pull the moor anyways. if you are skilled, you can get the motor and tranny out without pulling the front clip. However, if you haven;t done this before, I wouldn't attempt it. I am changin the tranny in my blazer now, and I have to pull the motor due to some "problems". I am pulling the motor first, and then dropping the tranny and t-case through the bottom. I have a small garage though. I don't have the room to pull the motor and tranny/t-case as one unit...

It is usually easier to pull the tranny by itself out the bottom
