i have been having problems with my alternator, and figured out its my voltage regulator. I have bought a re-manufactured alternator and keep taking it back because something is blowing my voltage regulator... what would cause this? any help is awesome thanks

What is the brand of your voltage regulator? Is it SX440 or other models?
Most of the voltage regulator internal FET is broken or a Darlington transistor breakdown, the excitation current generator output voltage will rise out of control, battery overcharge.
Damage to the generator will reduce the output voltage and cannot charge the battery

Need to look at the date of the last post. In this case Jan 26, 2010 Just about 10 years ago. The OP hasn't been on in over 7-1/2 years.
