My 95 Sonoma 4.3 with the NV3500 transmission has a very stiff clutch and doesn't release until about an inch to the end of its travel. If I push the clutch all the way in and then let it out about an inch or more, then the clutch starts to engage. Are these things normal? I also have a really hard time shifting to reverse without it grinding loudly whereas my 98 2.2 w/NV1500 5 spd never did this. Is that normal? I would also like to change the hydraulic clutch fluid, could that possibly help?

I have the same problem, sometimes the gears grind when I put it in reverse even if i'm at a dead stop. U sure its broken fingers?

Reverse gear isnt synchronized,
If your idling in neutral with the clutch out, try putting it into 4th (first), then go to reverse

i usually go 5th to reverse, works everytime

I do that too, it sucks though whenever i go to drive another manual car and you have to go to reverse from neutral.
