Here's the scoop-I have the 4.3 vin w engine/tranny stock in my '94 Jimmy. It's got 81,000 miles, and the tranny fluid smells and looks burnt. The tranny mech said I have a 50% chance of causing problems by putting new fluid/filter in. At 50,000 miles, 100% ok, but at 100,000 miles, its 100% not ok. Something about going from the old thick fluid to new thin might cause slippage. Right now I have no problems with the tranny, but don't want to have a dead tranny if I can avoid it.
So in short, if this was your Jimmy, would you change it and take the chance?
