I was just wondering, if I put inch shorter tires on my Jimmy, how much torque would I gain? This is a pretty dumb question, but does anyone have a guess?

i dont know about torque....you would accelerate faster, but have a lower top-end speed

You gain torque at the wheels....it just depends how small of a tire you go to as to how much you gain. Be prepared for a loss in gas mileage though.

Any time you have a small gear turning a large gear you multiply torque....try dynoing your truck in different gears and you'd see that you make a ton of torque in 1st gear compared to 3rd or 4th....torque is what moves your truck.

Just measure the diameter of your existing tire and the size you want. Take the differance between the 2 and divide that by the size of your origional tire. That will give you the percentage increase or decrease in torque.
Like if you went from 30" tire to a 27" tire
(30-27)/30=.10 or 10%
