Because I got tired of the lows. This was the last straw.

I'm more of a big truck kinda guy any how so its time to get high.

This is going to be sort of a combined build thread for me and countryboy732.

My plans:

dana 44's front and rear 86 Jeep grand wagoneer front / 01 passport rear
35" Mickey Thompson Baja claw radials
soa front and rear
Doing all the fab work ourselves

I'll let Travis do his

Here are some pics to see progress on mine so far

Axles for both our trucks

last pics of my truck low

mock up of approximate height

Old suspension removed

Cutting the brackets off the rear (there was way to many)

Setting down on the rear axle (sort of) I still need to change the leaf springs in the rear.

gonna look pretty good.
looks good, altho maybe its just the angle but looks like your front axle needs pushed forward some more

and arent the 01 passport axles a different version of a d44? i think they're metric instead of standard size?

edit nvm on the axle location i see now that you just have the tires sitting in front of it
Yeah The passport axles are a hybrid 44 they have a dana 60 size pinion and a slightly larger ring gear. It also has big disk brakes, the rotors are 12.25 dia.
WOOT.

See you at MOAB mike?
Looks good. Never would have thought it was 4wd until I seen the part if the front diff sticking out and the control brackets. Going to be awesome
Nice!!! Your Minnesota winters just got a Helluva Lot more Fun :) Get a tear drop style cowl hood & shes Done... Well Unless ya go bigger LoL
Welcome to the club! looks good so far.
Moab would be fun but, it's 1300 miles and I'll have a new little one. So, I would have to say it's a maybe, lol.
never though i would see this truck in the sfa section. will be awesome when done, i though it was awesome lowered with the mods done to it.
Nice project, i know how it feels to get hung up on everything. My trucks 2wd and running 205/70/15s in the rear and its like a car.

Heres my rig, 97 Blazer V8 swapped. Like Mike said, were gonna buddy build these projects.

He's gonna go spring over and run 35's. I'm going to keep it pretty simple and go spring under and run 33's. This is my DD and with a 5yr old and a little one on the way, I felt this would be more practical for my situation. Plan is to get Mikes truck rolling first then throw mine up on the lift and sas it on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It can be done...... I've read enough build threads and asked a few questions...... You know, just doing my homework.

Plan for my truck:
D30 from a 98 Jeep Cherokee (SUA)
Ford 8.8 from an Explorer w/disks (SOA)
Making our own hangers, perches and shackles
Shorten an Econoline drive shaft (aluminum drive shaft in axle pic)
Swap to np246 t-case (1/2 ton push button)
RC-8004 3" Waggy lift springs for the front.
Stock YJ pitman arm

I've read that I can use the stock front drive shaft if I kept the stock t-case which I may do to save some time but when I do decide to change it to the NP246, I don't know if the Cherokee front drive shaft will fit the 246 yoke. Does anyone here know?

why the transfer case swap ?
The rc springs are just as named if possible go with the rancho 2.5" springs. Not much give and ride hard. Plans sound good. My 2wd s10 was done in a weekend driving monday to work. Have you looked into a astro box. I think some of the spring under guys used them as well to make that angle flat

Strength, fixed yoke, readily available. Don't know how long the one I got's gonna last. Its there, might as well use it.

In almost all the threads I've read, 44044's are the spring of choice but the 8004's are more my budget...... I will probably end up forking over the money for them anyways. I thought guys using the astro box used them because they were setting the axle forward a couple inches. I want to keep mine centered in the wells.
What kinda mpgs where your guys Geting ? Nice job with the 6.0 and 5.7 swaps to , that lowerd awd 6.0 sure would be a fun steet truck
Most move alightly forward so when flexing it don't eat fenders and firewall. Get it ddont and see what's range yoh have
how are you going to wire in the np243 from a np236?

I second tim
