I think that these radios are about as minimalist as you can get. Just ignore the radio section...

I wrestled with the HVAC system in the truck today. New blower motor, new resistor and relay, all the blower motor speeds work now. Whoopee.

Made all of the lights work too. Bad grounds. Bad headlight switch. Bad bulbs. Just bad.
Now good.

Well, another day and another project with this POS.

Supposedly... the weather here in Baton Rouge is going to be cold around Christmas. Like in the teens.
Anything around freezing is considered very cold. The weather people measure freezing temps by the hour.
I've been here off and on for 14 years. The coldest I've seen was 17* at night for 2 days. The place went nuts.
Broken pipes, and people not going out doors...

So, after I installed the Edelbrock/Weber, I filled the radiator with water.
I don't need to replace any freeze plugs or a cracked block.

The odometer shows 242K miles, but the engine runs totally amazing. Its got great oil pressure, super quiet and has plenty of power.

What does all of this mean?
Flush the cooling system and install anti freeze.
The truck has the original copper/brass radiator in it. Hard to believe
They can last forever if they aren't exposed to salt and other bad stuff..
Menial work, but has to be done.

Well, I mentioned nickle and dime... The water pump quit.
Leaks like a dick dog...
What is a dick dog you ask?
Any one know?
My next post will tell you.

Autozone is $15 more for the same pump vs O'Reilly... FTW.

Dick Dog...
A (usually) male dog when taken for a walk will lift a leg on everything he encounters.
Even humans if they smell right and hold still long enough... :p

Road surface Asphalt Automotive tire Motor vehicle Gas

The rear end in this rig has 4.10 gears and has welded spider gears. Not so good for street cruising.
I sourced another disc brake rear with 3.42 gears. I couldn't find a G80 Gov Bomb, but this is a huge improvement over the welded unit.

If you look carefully, you can see the lowering blox.
Sort of raggy looking unit...

I forgot that I took a pic of the disc rear installed. Not a great pic, but you get the idea.

A surprise (sort of).

Going from 4:10 gear to 3:42 was a big bonus. It's not a G80 Gov Bomb, but just dumping the welded rear made a huge difference. The truck doesn't do the squeak around the corner business any more.
It's a normal cruiser now.
I'm running out of mods and upgrades...
(I can't believe I just typed that) It never ends.

More to come (?)

Good point ^^^
A friend in NY wants to buy it.

Since I went to carb on this rig, I need to figure out fuel delivery. The pump has way too much pressure for a carb.
That is one of the last parts of the puzzle. A low pressure regulator doesn't work. I've tried in the past. they fail after a short time.
Incidentally, this carb set up runs better than the TBI it replaced. In cold weather, hit the "gas" twice, it starts instantly and idles. It has tons of power too.
Haven't checked fuel mileage, but suspect it willl be good.

The last part of the fuel puzzle: DONE.

I bought AN adapter fittings to go from the stock fuel lines to (-4) AN fittings
I connected 3/8" stainless braided line to the pressure side and ran the line to the engine compartment.
I connected a brass 3/8" "T" and on the other end ran -4 AN stainless line to the return line on the stock fuel system.
From the middle of the "T", I ran a 3/8" neoprene fuel line to a see through 3/8" fuel filter, and from there to the carb.
I activated the fuel pump relay to come on with ignition in "on/start" position which fires the pump.
You can watch the fuel filter fill, then stop when the carb is full. Excess fuel/pressure runs back to the tank.
No pressure regulator needed... Works perfectly...
The lift is busy, I'll try to pop some pix when the lift is open again.

Now you know why this is a puzzle....

What company did you use for the AN fittings? Jegs and Summit ones I tried leak. Evil Energy on amazon actually all sealed up nice and tight.
