The column shifter handle on my 04 S 10 has to be pushed forward towards the engine so the key can be extracted. I thing there is a little (but heavy) spring in there that does this; am I right/> Is it worth (hard) it to replace it?

I ran into this with a Silverado. The spring broke. Guy owned a machine shop and gave me an oil pump pressure relief spring to put in its place. Wasn't a perfect match but it worked and it did the job.

Thanks! I wonder if there is a P/N; I looked at oemcats.com and other GM dealer type sites and did not see a spring relating to the shifter handle, I can remember years ago exploded views that I believe showed that spring. I bet those guys that used to sell rebuilt tilt colunms for hot rodders know where to get them/ or the P/N.

I did away w wife's and did floor shift conversion. All wiring is supported. No real modifications other than holes for screws to secure shifter assembly.
