I don't know where to post my question. Figure you V8 guys would know best.
I bought a Taurus fan to install. I was hoping it would free up space. It doesn't really.
I would like to know if anyone has removed and flipped the fan, then wired it backwards?
I'd like it better up front if I can. The fan moves so much air, and I don't have AC. It should be able to cool plenty.

can you post pics of why you have no room to mount it normally.
and i dont think anything of the fan is engineered to run backwards

If you don't need AC and depending on the radiatior you may be able to move it forward under the core support. Potentially on an angle.
Or simply run 2 or 3 smaller fans.

Puller fans work much better then pusher fans. Everything works better with a shroud.

I'd return it simply because it's a Doormat. Everything they make is junk. There are many fans out there that are slimmer. Both factory and aftermarket. Unfortunately most aftermarket are Chinese like your Dorkman.
Is your truck a V8? PM @Harley, he has come up with some pretty novel combos that work well. It's surprising how small a fan and rad are actually needed. Those Taurus are amperage hoes. You need heavy duty relays for them to keep from toasting them. I think they really spike on start up.

if it fits it will be inefficient but functional.
might as set it back to factory and take that fan back... spal brand is usually thin and good

I want more room up there to make working easier.
I'm going to use a 3000 CFM pusher. Eventually I'll find an aluminum high flow pump, but not this month.
Working on what? If anything that needs repair is done correctly, it should last a very long time. Pushers are not that efficient considering they're blocking the radiator.

this is not an improvement over the stock setup.
pusher main fan is no good, especially when you are 'backyard engineering' it. you will throw it out of balance when you (try to) remove/replace the blade. if its cheap it was probably never balanced anyways... i question whether it will even fit as a pusher. i wouldnt know though.

to do it right-ish get a spal puller plus shroud plus upgraded alt ... you will get +/- 2hp (?) for hundreds of dollars plus time and research...

the stock setup has the best bang for the buck unless you are cherry picking parts deals and can whip up your own shroud effortlessly. but even then you can cherry pick the stock stuff while you are at it...

It's a flex a lite pusher fan, rated 3000cfm. I think it will work. I'm going to have to box in around the radiator up front force air through when driving, but I can handle that. Having the auxiliary coolers downstream of the radiator can only help it.
Worse comes to worse, a water pump upgrade may be needed.

I installed a 383 stroker in my 89 S10, Taurus two speed fan, radiator in forward position. Using a DC Control fan control system, starts up slow and speeds up as needed. This hooks up to the high speed wire only on the fan itself. Also running a front runner pulley system and all works fine.

DC fan control, circuit breakers also run air conditioning, no issues.

originally you said taurus fan. based on the pics of the nice setup above: if your taurus fan/shroud is the same dimensions as the one in the pics it will not fit as a pusher.

even with a decent pusher: theres ample room for a puller no matter the setup on an s10. call the company and ask them. they will tell you puller first, then pusher if for some reason it needed more (no legitimate reason comes to mind other than a bad initial design and time/money needed to correct it).
