hey pimps and pimpettes. i got a prob well not a prob but more of a situation. i had a wreck and my tailgate has a huge ass friggin dent in it so im replacing it for christmas. but here is the problem my local paint guy said hell paint it for 150 if he aint gatta tape or be cautious of the handle so that it wont get paint on it. so i found a black tailgate and i need to take the hardware out. is it at all hard? could you explain briefly on how to do it or refer me to a place that can tell me?

its easy to take all the hard ware out just take off the tailgate by unhooking the little black cable things then pull up on the left side of the gate then pull it off set it on jack stands, handle side up, pop off piece around handle with screwdriver take out the 2 or 3 bolt that hold the handle on, pop off the rods, then go to the sides of the gate take out the two bolts on the latch then pull that assembly out do the other side the same way then pull out the handle its really easy

the white clips inside the tailgate, under the handle i think u psuh them up or to the side n unclip them then the wire/cable should release, <for internal just be careful mine snapped on me cuz i pushed em the wrong way shouldnt be to hard
