I am wanting to wire up a tachometer in my truck it is a 91 with a 2.5 manual transmission. Im wondering where should i put the wires? Can anybody send me some pictures of what they did?

That method doesn't work with DIS as far as I know... you've got two coil packs and an ICM. On the later models the tach wire is in the harness already, not sure about a 91 though.

Green wire to coil (-)
Black to a good ground
Red to a switched ignition power
White to dash lights.
I've pulled the headlight switch out, and just use a test light to find which wire lights up with running lights on. Make sure you keep the headlight switch connected

you should have all the wires you need in the wire pack that plugs into the cluster. other then the light wire. I am getting ready to do a 92 with 2.8 but the wire that plugs into the cluster will be the same set up for mine and yours. if you do a quick search on here for tachometer install, there is a good thread with everything you need, information wise.

if you read this, even though it says second gen 2.2, it works on first gen set ups also.


look through and you will see first gen guys say it works for them
