I'm swapping a 350 into a 93, 4.3.
It seems I need headers/ motor mounts that work together which is the Hedman set and a electric fan. (Think I'll go with duel fans.)
I am going from a throttle body to a carburetor, so my friend said I have to remove the fuel pump in the gas tank and put in a tube with a filter, the length of the pump.
Aside from this that's about all I gotta do I gather....?

I am not sure if the same oil pan will work or not. Looks the same. I seen the header kits with the "high performance" oil pan but dunno anything about that. Anything else I need to know about or missing?

I've rebuilt the 350 going in with a mild cam.
Thanks.

Hey guys I got a 91 s10 single cab with the five speed and tbi motor, I have a donor 92 gmc 2wd with a 350 tbi. My concern is the computer part. Will the computer from the gmc plug into my harness? If not what can I do?

Alright didn't really find what i was looking for in this thread. so here it goes: I have a 97 4 door blazer, Looking to do a vortec 350 swap out of a 1500(also a 97). Things i know: Using trans dapt 44063 for the hard parts minus radiator( gonna toy with a few ideas i have) and cooling fans, wiring harness will come from current performance because i suck at wiring for the most part(plus the fifth wire that you retain from the 4.3 harness), Starter and flex plate instructions are a bit fuzzy but i have the donor vehicle so should be doable. My big question is: A. It appears i can use either computer with a re flash is this true? B. Who have you gentlemen used in the past to re flash your computers and what specifically do you ask to be done to them ( I have zero experience in any kind of tuning) Help is greatly appreciated, Thanks in advance.

97 S10 4.3 swapping to a carb 305 should be able to move mounts and just drop in right don't have to worry about the wiring harness also running the 700r4 auto trans
Yeah....you're going to need to read the stickies...doesn't work like that.

Because the age of Flintstone cars has passed. It's more work and less efficient to take a step backward.

Why don't people just go straight carb setup instead of fuel injection and just skip all the harness headache?
One reason is that switching from FI to carb on most 2nd gen s-series creates more headaches than it cures. Especially 98 up. Nearly everything passes through the PCM, BCM or both. If you eliminate them you basically need to re-wire the front 90% of the truck. Starting with a complete new dash and instruments.

To the question "Why?". I started out working on them.
My first job, in 1957, was in an independent, over the road, truck garage. I was 11 years old. Swept floors and washed parts. When I was 16 years old I was a commission mechanic in an automobile Garage. I've never liked the electronic systems. Nor do I like the metric system of measuring.

As far as the team of horses is concerned I have put in many a day behind horse or mule drawn farm equipment.

I hope no one thought I was being rude when I posted my feelings on carbs & distributors. If so, please accept my apology.

Nobody thought you were being rude. It's just hard to understand that mindset. Nostalgia has it's place, but why not take advantage of much easier tuning, better fuel economy, and lower emissions? No argument on the sillymeter system for measuring.
