If you live in the Oklahoma City area, please be on the look out for my faded blue 1992 S-10 Extended Cab. The driver's glass will be broken out. It has some existing damage between the driver's door and left rear wheel well. The tailgate is missing paint along the top in the middle. There is a large Defend the 2nd sticker on the back glass. Other than the damage to the left side and the glass, the body is very straight. The pics are before the left side damage. The corner lights also have been fixed since these pics. Any help is appreciated!
The tag is OLE BLU, but the pickup is pretty easy to spot without the tag. And it's the first thing a thief would change.

Well, gee, if I had a picture of what the truck looks like right now, I wouldn't be asking for help finding it. Or maybe I'll go find the pickup, take a picture without the plate covered up, and post it.

Maybe in some states. Here in WI DMV won't give out any info on the plate number. Hasn't for over 50 years.
Think about this scenario. You're planning to rip off your coke dealer for his drugs and his money and you decide to call DMV to find out where lives since you wrote down his tag number.
They reply that the car is register to the the federal government department of homeland security, DEA division.
That just blew an undercover agents year's worth of work and wasted a couple hundred grand of taxpayer dollars and the perp got away. If no one got shot.
Makes it easy for serial rapists to locate women's home addresses, too. If your state is still giving out that info they'll stop when a victim sues for a few million.
Car thieves can just hang out at shows and write down license numbers. Sames them a bunch a looking around.
BTW he said in his opening remarks "The tag is OLE BLU "

And if the DMV doesn't give out info, doesn't that make it even dumber to hide your plate number?

For the benefit of others that may read this thread, many states do allow personal info to be given out based on the tag number. Even in states where its illegal, all you need is a friend that works for the DMV or a tag agency. That's why license plates are covered in sales ads. I added the tag number because the pickup is obviously no longer at my home.

Like a said above, if that's the case, some states sure make it easy for the bad boys and need to outlaw such naive (showing a lack of experience, wisdom, or judgment) practices.

The Gone in 60 Seconds movie from 2000 showed how getting DMV information could be used. Donny went to the CADMV to get the addresses of certain models of car and the gal at the desk gave him names and addresses of people who owned those cars. So even if the plate isn't known, just the model could lead them to your house if the DMV gave up information easily. This movie caused quite a few states to reconsider what information is available from the DMV.

I am sorry to hear your truck is missing. It is unfortunate that the first gens are so easy to steal. I repaired quite a few of these from theft recovery when I was a body tech. These were still fairly new back then too, but I digress. Keep your eyes out on Offer Up, Craigslist and FBMP for some one "parting out" or selling the truck but dont just look local to you. Most of the time they are taking the vehicles out of the typical range of the apps, and selling in a different market.

I'm doing those things, but I'm not hopeful. I placed a Craigslist ad about it being stolen, and heard from other people in the area who had theirs stolen recently as well. Sounds like there's a crew working the area.

I used to take the battery out since I only drove it once a week. I got complacent when my other car was down for a while and was driving the pickup every day.

The pickup was recovered this morning by police and the person driving it was arrested. From a quick once over at the wrecker lot it looks like the damage is a busted window, bent door where they pried the top of the window out, busted window molding, busted left side of the column, broken left headlight and the grill next to the headlight. Everything I had inside is gone, but other than the column the interior seems to be okay.
