I have one bad rod with no markings, other than a raised flat 1/4" mold mark. How is this different from the #045 forgings? there are also mentions of a 3 rd rod with a dot? which is heaver and where would i remove weight?

Not sure about the rod differences, but whenever I have lightened a piston assembly I have always shaved the casting seam off the side of the rod. Just make sure to blow out all the shavings as they will still read on the scale even if they are sitting inside the piston!

figured i would take my bad rod to the machine shop, and ..ruined the piston....the slope of the pin boss cocks the rod and she won"t press nicely and my pickle fork didn't help. now all 6 are at the shop :)
