what are the best perfromance upgrade spark plug wires for the 4.3?
also would a 10mm wire be better than a 8mm?

depends on the year. for 96- up, the factory
spiral cores are about all you need.
95-older, upgrading to quality spiral cores
is a good idea.

as for the thickness of the wire, in theory,
the thicker the jacket the better. but in practice,
a high quality 7mm wire is plenty.
especially when plug gaps are kept reasonable.

When you replace the ignition wire, be sure to use the wire looms which limits you to 7mm wire. HEI systems must have good separation from each other and from objects that are a potential ground to prevent arcing. The RF radiation from ignition wire can also effect sensors and other electronic components. If you used larger diameter wire, be sure to obtain the appropriate size wire looms.

I use OE replacement AC Delco 7mm ignition wire and never have had any problems except once when a wire cam out of a wire loom, contacted the hot exhaust manifold and grounded which shut off the ICM temporarily.

i have 8.5mm MSD wires, MSD 6A box, and MSD coil. i noticed no pref gain except a slightly smoother idle. I got the whole kit off ebay for around 75.00. was gonna put on my 78 camaro, but decided to put on my 94 since it came off a 94 CPI truck.

IMO stay with stock or OEM replacement, no use in spending 100 bukcs on "perf" wires when your eng wont benefit from it.

I choose 1998 for the for the heck of it. Amazon has AC/Delco
wires at a good prices. Around 68.00 or so. This was the part
number that came up. #88984265

Unless you're boosted, or have a ton of compression and running insane rpm (7k+)

The distributor terminals are different type and the wire has a slightly different fit depending on the year.

1988-1991 AC Delco 716B, GM-12073994
1992-1995 AC Delco 716W,GM-12074078
1996-1997 AC Delco 746T, GM-12173579
1998-2005 AC Delco 746KK, GM-88984265

I've had the Taylor Thundervolts for 5 years now 8.2mm Idk if they even still make them or not, but never had an issue. MSD, Accel, made in China, or some dang place. Taylors are made in Grandview MO.
Taylor's,... yeah there are a bit pricy, but well worth the money. Bout, 20.00 more than the AC Delco's.I think I gave 79.00 bucks for mine.
