With new to me knowledge of the engines that will bolt up to the existing drive train I may have a formula for swapping a v8 into an s10 ......anyone feel free to chime in ...
Using metric bellgousing ....so this will be a 2.8 v6 easy swap recipe 馃憣馃榾...
The smorgasbord of metric bellhoisings are really good options ....imagine gramps and his cadillac sedan deville with a bad trans for cheap ....not a purist exploit ....but if it fits it roasts tires and equalls fun ....
Anyone done this yet put a 4.9 caddy motor into a s10 that used to have a 2.8 and used the ecu and all wiring from the cadillac. Fuel pump may need swapped but ....all in a day's work ...

Or may re invent the wheel and use the entire subframe and make it front wheel drive 馃殫馃檮馃槈馃槣馃槒馃ぃ....any input welcome plz no haters 馃槈

Good luck with your swap.
Keep in mind that out of the ordinary swaps will have you fabbing a lot of your own parts...most get abandoned due to the complexities of the swap. The more complicated, the higher the chance of abandonment.
Lazy old farts like me prefer to build something that's been done many times, we let the trailblazers figure out and overcome the problems, then we learn from their mistakes.
Looks like a lot of Fiero owners use that engine, so at least some of the issues have been overcome.

If all of these will interchange why waste the time sourcing a 30 yr old 350 and cutting holes for long tube headers in the floor pans .....and use an antiquated carb cause it's all you can understand.... I've seen it all and zipties and duct tape holding most of them together .....not worth 3k or 5k for all of that and some ones word on it being done right 鉁咅煈嶐煈忦煒夝煈.....I'll see how far I go down the rabbit hole 馃暢...on this ride ....thanks for the reply 馃

junk engine into an s10.
there are so many better options with kits made to make the swap easy.
might as well swap a toyota V8 into an s10, at least it will make some decent power and actually be worth it in the end

Hey swaps are for parts changers ....and geezers with $$$ read the tags for the post ...figured they would set the mood for the project ....one man's junk probably striped your *** and left a bad taste in ya mouth .....

Built not bought....
Use the parts avalible don't pay hi $ for a half **** fabricated mess you gotta modify ..

Engineers left bread 馃崬crumbs for a reason
In the design of the parts avalible to be used
And if you pay attention toyota is not in the list for the engine family although the Acura slx and mdx have good trans and motors which will work as well 馃槈....


I know this is s10 forum but I would also like to see a vette with a 1.8 4 banger and 5 speed in a mid 90s vette good powe to weight for a commuter .....what would you think of that 1 cheap insurance and not to much for a young teen 馃to just impress his peers who can't afford insurance on a v6 camaro to drive 馃馃槈......may not be fast but who's in a hurry to wrap around a telephone pole or die .....the vette already has most upgrades done to wheel and tire combo and brake upgrades from stock .....

We all live too fast 馃槳.... speed is not the answer to everything .....why not enjoy the ride 馃槖....who cares if you got 10k in a 13k vehicle if it floats your boat 馃槈 atlesst it's floating ....

Oversimplification. Any FWD will need a new bellhousing anyway. Starter on the driver's side.

What I was trying to accomplish was just to ask has anyone ever done anything like this any input 馃槙.... just wanna see if anyone can shed any light on the extent of swaps aside from ls the world or 350 4 boat main and 350 turbo all you need 馃...... I don't drink budweieser and don't feel the need to date my cousin....

I want to shed light on what's avalible ....maybe swap a 5 speed automatic from a Acura into a corvette with 1.8 ltr 4 banger and get good economy with it and add a rattle can or buzz bomb 馃挘 for giggles 馃榾馃槣....instead of wasting time with death traps of today and learn something along the way 馃槈...not a stranger to wiring it up myself or building my own wiring from the 2 to make it work

if thats how you feel about sbc/LS swaps, then im a cousin lovin, sister daddy, daughter dating son of a gun.

No need for a 4 bolt main block unless you're doing 8 second 1/4 miles or pulling trees out of the ground. I have seen many 500=hp 350 engines with 2 bolt main blocks over the years, It's your S-10 do what you wish! As for me, I am pro GM so no foreign stuff for me unless it's the only place to get parts I need. I have a 4x4 V8 powered lifted Astro van so my S-10 is my winter vehicles, but I will still fix it all up.

Believe you have whats commonly called 'An Active Imagaination'
VW Bug ' Bad Penny' roamed Omaha streets in the 60s with a SBC up front , driver aft somewhat. All fabricated by one such visionary. Wern't much rdy made swap stuff then. Saw it many summers , so must have been ok. Just grab one (or more) of your ideas and make it work. Ya, don't has to be kwik , just fun and different. Even mo better if it sets a trend that you started.

(actually, that motor in a Fiero is a swap that can work out well if someone is a seriously good fabricator. The 4.1 and 4.5 had beaucoup problems but by '91 or when the 4.9 version came out, those were solved and I believe I recall that that motor was statistically Cadillac's most trouble free motor until these newer ones, and being a narrow angle V8, it is a good fit. I also saw a good install of a Buick 3.8 into a Fiero, that I liked well enough to consider buying, but my wife was sick and passing and I missed out.)

You should hear my theory on street bike 馃弽swapping into any vehicle and only using the shifter for reverse and paddle shift from the street bike 馃弽 trans for a small fwd or even rwd with steering gear box 馃摝 15:1 ratio and no trans at all aside from the paddles with an electric starter and bellhousing flywheel .....think about it 8k rpm red line from a 60 or degree v6 or v8 but 12 -14k rpm with the street bike 馃弽馃 the power and fun begin up high right ......driving daily with 5 or 6 spd paddle shift and a 5 spd manual 馃 add all the gears 鈿 together and start having fun .....
