Hello! First post lol. I'm up in the high desert and have always loved off roading. But I love low BMW's and they don't like off roading as much as I want them too. So I'm going to look at an 84 s10 today and hopefully I'll be able to pick it up in the next few weeks (going to vegas for thanksgiving with family). It'll be a project and I'll have plenty of time to work on it during winter break! =D

I use a shop in Santa Ana called Dealers Service Inc. Dealt with them for 7 years working at my last job and sent a lot of work there and they do good paint and body. Not the cheapest, but the quality was excellent and the people are nice as can be.

I would recommend Economy Paint and Collision in Riverside (rubidoux/agua mansa area). Good prices and great quality.

It's in and runs but I removed the s/c (sitting in a box right now) as I was in a hurry to get the swap finished before I went into training with the railroad last summer. I've got to get it smogged and have some body work done but it is driveable at this point. Been lazy and haven't worked on it hardly any since starting the new job that takes the majority of my time.

How've you been? Still up in LA?

I picked up a 91 Jimmy 2 wheel drive about 6-8 weeks ago. In the past had a 91, and then a 92 S10 both reg cabs, then a 2 dr 94 Jimmy 4x4. Also a 98 2 dr Blazer 4x4 but didn't care for it so sold it off after a couple months. Moved here from North Carolina to the desert for a job a couple years ago. Decided to get rid of my Forester for something easier for me to work on.

Anyhow, want to fix a few things, make it my daily, then start on some basic mods. Can anyone recommend some you pull it type yards with decent prices? I know about the LKQ chain, but is there anything else? Maybe with better prices? Or maybe this type of stuff is just more out here? Thanks in advance.

Well, if you're in Ridgecrest, I wont be any help. I always go to Pick a Part in Ontario. I don't know if its part of LKQ (i think that is pick YOUR part). I don't think anyone that posts in here anymore lives north of L.A. Sorry to be of no help.

Part of living in Ridgecrest is knowing you probably will need to drive somewhere else to get something. I go to Lancaster, Anaheim, Pasadena, etc. most weekends so I don't mind going to Ontario.

I've been to the pick a parts in Anaheim (both of them), although not within the last 10 years. I find the Ontario location to have a ton more truck/SUVs and it is cleaner.
