i started posting in my other thread but i figured a new one would be better, it is now an rb25 since i broke the rb20. i got the parts to fix the rb20 but i got a good deal on an rb25 which in all ways is a better motor. So i dropped the rb25det in the truck here are some new pics, i do need some input tho should i go with the polished covers or the painted covers? The covers are different as you can see in the pics i like both so im lookin for other opinions.

these are the polished rb20 covers

the rb25 covers painted the color of the truck

and here is the fuel rail installed, shes almost ready to start

go woth the color matched ones. The Polished ones are cool but don't flow too well in the engine bay i think.

Lookin forward to seeing this build. I know nothing about these motors but do you have to do any wireing changes at all or is it just drop in?

pretty much the same, i dont have to change the wiring really at all and with the new engine the intercooler piping is shorter. All the engines are basically the same when it comes to the rb engines, water pumps, oil pumps, trannies and some others swap between the different rb engines. I do like how clean the painted ones are in how the plumbing is ran on them vs the rb20 ones(polished ones)

thanks guys i do like the 280 now with the new wheels.

ok it runs guys :D had to sort out a few problems with putting the newer r34 skyline coils on it but she purrs nice now. Im gonna run the haltech again and i just had it running on the rb20 ecu to see how it would work without ruining the haltech. i'll try to get a vid of her running when i get the haltech hooked up and the ic pipes buttoned up. I can feel the air from the turbo pushing out the hoses now at just idle!!! it should spool the turbo faster making more power at lower rpm.

ok i got another update, i got the rb25 running pretty good. I ended up trying to run it with the rb20 ecu but i ran into problems. The rb20 ecu has a different timing curve than the rb25 so that explains why i broke the rb20 with the haltech. The timing u used was a base map for the rb25 which advanced the timing way too much for an rb20. After i realized that the ecu's timing were different i bought an r33 skyline ecu to run the rb25. I got it in and it ran much better but not the way i thought it would. My other rb25 ran much better so it led me to believe that there was something else different with the two ecu's. I looked into it and found that the r33 series 2 ecu uses a different maf sensor. i had a spare maf lying around and hooked it up the maf was from a maxima bought 93 in year, it wouldnt ldle for crap but it hauled ass just like my old rb25. So i ordered the right maf for it today hope to have it by wednesday. The rb25 with 9 psi is faster than the rb20 with 13psi, the only thing i have to do now is get the megasquirt hooked up so i can run 20psi :D I uploaded a new vid this one is a bit better quality dont mind my rookie vid taking :D i'll get a rolling vid soon i just got this new camera.

A friend of mine was interested in doing a similar swap into his 91 s-10... I have an RB25 sitting in my shop right now, we just put one in a 89 240sx and I was wondering if you could give us a little insite on what you had to do to get this into your truck!?! I am sure a lot of your swap was done with custom parts and we appreciate anything you would have for information!!! my email is [email protected] or just PM me on here! Thanks again and have a good one!

BTW: Very nice truck and what a great motor to have in it!!!!!!
