Can anyone recommend a good shop that knows LS1 S10 V8 swaps for a 2003 Xtreme? I also want new disc brakes and upgraded suspension installed all around. I can travel pretty much anywhere from DC to New England and out to OH if the shop is reputable and has experience with S10 V8 swaps.

Any suggestions?

I was budgeting about $6,000 for engine & trans from a 2004 GTO and $5,000 for install. If I run over budget I can put off the brake and suspension upgrade until next year. My main concern is the quality of the work. I want the truck to run like factory.

I could do it for you, considering you have the proper parts, etc. 5 grand is a lot if you have the correct parts

I'll do it for you no problem in a professional shop and I have plenty of experience. I have 2 in the shop now and just finished another in Nov. $5k is about right when you consider all parts and labor.

Cost depends on if your truck is 4cyl or 6 cyl.

If 4cyl then you need to deal with front suspension and PCM with the swap. If a 6cyl then you may be able to get by with existing suspension assuming the LS is all aluminum and use existing PCM. Bigger rad/fans either way.

Shop around and ask questions.

Hello!

Apologies for digging up an ancient thread, but this looked like the most appropriate place. I live in Las Vegas and am trying to find a reputable shop anywhere in the west that has experience in doing S-10 v8 swaps. In particular, I'm looking to put an LSx into my 5-speed 1992 x-cab 4.3 model.

Any input from the forum would be greatly appreciated.

Why is it every time someone digs up a dead thread they apologize for it?? Why not just leave it to Rest In Peace?
