What gauge metal is the body made of on a 1st gen S-blazer?

How easy is it to tach? I have a 90 amp flux core mig.
I want to do some practice work and see if i can get it to work.
I have done some patch work with a stick before so this should be a breeze.

last question,
How do you keep the back side of the sheet metal from rusting after you weld it in? I'm working on the rear quater panel.

18guage metal on your body. You have to be really really good to do welding on sheet metal with a flux core welder. It burns way to hot for sheet metal. as far as the rust issue you have to use some type of weld through primer. You put it on the metal before welding, then you need to paint the back side as much as you can (as much of it as you can access

i thought it was 20 gauge gallvinized? i saw goodmark sellling 20 gauge patches so i figured that was it.

I dont have a mic to check it, But it feels like 20 or 22 gauge to me.

Ya, I wish I had a gas mig, but my little craftsman flux core works pretty good on most stuff.
I have to admit I have tryed several ways to disapate the air while welding without luck, I guess thats why I have a grinder and a brush. lol
