Since my Firebird seats didn't work out, I'm thinking of shaving my truck clean. The door, atenna, and tailgate. Questions:

How will I pick up radio without an atenna?

How reliable are the door kits (Autoloc)? I don't wanna get locked out.

Can you make a back up Hidden key lock to get in?

I'm going to have to repaint my entire door, fender and tailgate right?

Thanks peeps

youll have to get the antena in your windshield.
door kits are pretty realiable just get one for the heavier doors
most door kits do have a backup way to get into the door
and you will hve to repaint...or if your paint is in good condition you can have it resprayed and then blended.

As far as the antenna I've seen kits that go inside the a-pillar, don't know how well they work, though. And If you shave your doors make sure you get the best solenoids you can afford. My brother got cheap ones and they burnt out in like a month :cuss:

I just did my tailgate and only needed to repaint the outside and the relocator handle.

Reliability...

I've had people tell me that the kits aren't very relaible no matter who you get them from. These same people have told me that shaved dorrs are not for daily frivers. Anyone here had shaved handles for 2 or more years?

Does the lbs make a diffrence in lifespan? IE 50lbs will last longer than a 35lbs

ive had em for a little over a year, and i have the cheapest F#%^KING door poopers availaible, i only had a problem ONCE , i leaned on the remote for awhile and held the first button down for who knows how long and burnt out the motor on the drivers side, 2 days and 10 dollars later, problem was fixed. never had any other problems. you just need to be smart about it, always know where your keys are, and keep tabs on the location of your spare remote

I'm fine with my antenna under the hood, its just chilling in there all tucked away you cant find it un-less you look for it. autoloc makes the best shaved door kits but they are spendy but worth it. I dont hear about many people having problems with shaved handles, theres alwazes a coat hanger handy to pop the lock! its worth it shaving the doors
