if i get the relocator kit, should i use the filler it comes with and have a body shop put it in, sand, grind, prime, etc. or should i go ahead and get a new skin?....i guess i could go ask someone at a body shop how much it would be but i just thought bout it and figured i would ask

i would just use the filler. less work = less $$ when you say skin do you mean like the cal combo where you fill in the gate entirely.

use the filler, i'm waiting to do mine. i wouldn't get a skin unless ur tail gate is in bad shape or you get a combo. if your having a body shop do it they should be able to weld the plate in. they'll know to take time so the heat doesn't warm the tailgate pannel (well you should hope they do) good luck.

I didn't even use the kit. It isn't necessary. It saved me about 50 bucks.

do it yourself bro....tack weld your fillerplate in..then weld(tackweld) around the filler switching from side to side.use a spray bottle of water every 3-4 tackwelds to help cool the metal..take numerous breaks to allow the metal to cool.make sure your using a wire feed welder on the lowest heat possible to get good penetration without heat the sheetmetal to much. then from there welld the hole completly shut then grind it down flush then do your body work.

I just took the handle out, cut a hole in the back, stuck the handle in, took the actuating rods out and swapped sides with them, reconnected the rods, tacked the plate in, and finished out the body work. Like Flowmini98 said, be EXTRA careful about getting it too hot. I warped mine because my steel was too thick. I still haven't got it back smooth yet. it was a real *******!!!!!!!!!!

is the actuall filler plate already in the curve of the truck?(like if you are looking at it from the side the tailgate bulgdes out more at the top than at the bottom) or like on my bros ranger he has a body line would his filler plate have the body line in it or what or is it just a piece of strait metal no bendz?

Thx
Dru.
