I've searched and can't find a good answer... but is there something special about the rearmost body mounts on a 1st gen Blazer? I replaced the front 8 with little difficulty, but when I try for the last two things are spinning as though there is a loose nut. I don't see any access to get a wrench on a nut, though. I'm finding it difficult to believe that I busted the welds on both of them when I didn't have a problem on the others.

Is this a "cut the floor" situation?

Thanks!

Sounds like busted nuts.
x2 - Just because the previous eight weren't problematic doesn't indicate or insure that the last 2 will be the same. Given the age of a 1st gen. truck, consider yourself fortunate that 8 of the underbody fasteners were 'cooperative'. I don't recall the configuration of the rear mounts. Are the captive nuts located in the hat channel under the floor pan? If so, a 'surgical' removal/ replacement of areas of the floor pan may be needed to access the body nuts aren't. Got any photos of the rear mounts?

I totally hear you! Yes, the rearmost two (nuts) appear to be completely sealed into a channel under the rear “bed” area. That’s why I was hesitant to believe they had busted when some of the more exposed mounts came out fine.

I just didn’t want to cut the floor and then discover like an idiot that there is other acces:)

ill just cut the floor and re-weld everything.

this truck sat outside for 20 years and, other than some exhaust studs, these are the only nuts/bolts that I broke on the entire refurb. Had to be the last two…

thanks!

Rather than going nuts with a cutoff wheel, try a hole saw...much cleaner hole and probably easier to repair.

@TomA another excellent idea! The steel in that area is embossed a bit so it wouldn't be a flush fit, but might be worth it to use a little RTV and keep the access. Have to see what it looks like when I get in there - thank you!
