So when I first got my S10, the distributor was worn out and was off just a hair but it wasnt entirely noticable. Just last sunday (05-15-2022) I changed the distributor without a timing light and did the best I could with just the timing marks on the camshaft pulley. For a couple days until I could get my hands on a timing light I delt with the miss firing and what not and when I did get it timed correctly it definitely Idles a lot better and doesnt stall after starting mutliple times or while going in reverse, but when I press down on the accelerator after being stopped at a redlight or whatever, it kinda jerks a little and the RPMs drop and sometimes it stalls. Sometimes even just outting it in drive stalls it out! It only really takes off if I floor it from a dead stop.
Once Im driving it seems a little weak but it holds up just fine. Im thinking it may be a fuel issue but not entirely sure what about it could be the issue! Please let me know what you think!

Have you tried turning motor back and forth with a bar and seeing how much slack is in the rotor? If there is a lot, you have a worn out timing chain. This is extremely common. Fortunately it isn't a terribly hard fix. Check that and report back.

I have while timing the distributor, theres almost no slack. I took a look today and found out the ignition chord that plugs into the distributor wasnt plugged in all the way. That fixed the stalling but it still lags a bit when pressing down the accelerator

An 87 2.8 isn't famous for having instantaneous throttle response.
Did you ever get a timing light on it?

Yea I took it to a shop, a friend of mine and I worked out the timing ourselves and the timing light said the timing was fine and it sounds fine. Its only when I give it gas in Overdrive is when it freaks out. Ive noticed in direct drive the stuttering is less but still worries me

Just throwing it out there, if you are miled up the wear item that seems to influence throttle response the most is the TPS Throttle Position Sensor. Little history and or miles may help us all have a better understanding.

I got the car from my grandfather so Im not really sure on the history of parts replaced or gone out or whatever but it has about 205,000 miles on it. I rebuilt the transmission, brakes, put in a new belt tensioner, then finally the new distributor

Based on the mileage alone I would replace the throttle position sensor as it is in constant motion with the throttle. It is easy to spend someone else's money so take it for what it is worth. Again based on mileage alone the o2 sensor would be on my hit list as well.

Also based on the mileage, I’d time it by ear because it is likely running retarded due to sprocket wear and chain stretch; it can probably safely handle 5-7* of advance and not bat an eye.
