Have a friend with an S-10 with the automatic clutch adjusting mechanism. Seems the life of this system is not what it should be. Is there a retrofit that can be recommended? How about a hydraulic, or cable, clutch conversion? Is one available, or possibly a retro out of a junk yard that is 'just made for' this vehicle?

Thanks.

Don't think there are any retrofit, but my clutch system I thought was crappy until it blew out....

turned out it was a bad slave cylinder not allowing the clutch and pressure plate to disengage completely when you're driving along.....didn't even smell or anything, just abruptly one day died on me

So check that

S-10 Clutch Problem

Thanks for your response, but this particular vehicle does not have a hydraulic clutch system. It has some kind of a weird automatic adjusting system consisting of something similar to your normal rear drum brake adjusting mechanism. Thanks anyway.
