I bought my 1988 S10 with no lower locks or power windows and the driver and passenger side exterior door locks were nonexistent. I ordered new locks and now that my doors apart I can’t even reach the door lock hole. Can anyone explain how to properly reach the hole.

its been like 20+ years since I replaced mine and I dont remember it being difficult. I think you disconnect the linkage at the far end and pop the clip off with a longish screwdriver. Then pull the cylinder and linkage out through the hole from the outside. This is what I think I remember. Could be way wrong too.

IIRC you're right. It's not an impossible job, but can be a PITA to get at. Popping the clip is the easy part. It's getting that sucker back in that's a pain. But as you said pull the link with the cylinder.

When I did mine it was during a restoration and I was installing new door shells as part of it. With out the glass, sweeps and mechanism there is a lot more room. Find a nimble 12 year-old to help. :)
