.Ok ...one of you stereo experts must know the answer to this one......... I hope?
Is it possible to replace the factory head unit and still retain use of the remote tape player .I think I seen something on this before.
Either some sort of adapter harness, or it was a Kenwood head unit with the right accessory plug-in at the rear.

To my knowledge you cant. I know you go from factory deck to aftermarket changer in some cases but not aftermarket deck to fact. accessory ie cd changer or cassett or stand alone cd player. Later Jered

Thanks guys.

After lots if trial and a few errors.....I have figured out good sounding
setup using the factory head unit, running through an Alpine pre-amp EQ into 2 250 watt amps powering a 12 inch sub behind the rear seat and 6.5 "pioneers in the rear doors .
I also replaced the front door speakers with Pioneer 6.5"s and the dash with 4x6 and added additional tweeters on the front door post.
