Does a 98 S-10 have a 7.5 or 7 5/8 rearend? What spline 26 or 28?

depends on what motor and trans.
2.2 auto or manual 7.625 28 spline
4.3 auto 7.625 28 spline
some 4.3 5 speeds 8.5 30 spline
if i'm wrong someone correct me please.

Thanks for that bit of information. I just installed a set of 4.10 gears to find out that my spyder gears where trashed, so I was going to replace the carrier with an Eaton posi differential. Summit offers a 10 bolt 7.5 with a 26 spline or a 7 5/8 with a 28 spline. Since I just installed 7.5 gears and then counted the splines on the axle which was 28 I was a little confused, until I found out that GM 10 bolt 7.5 and 7 5/8 were interchangable. Your information is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

yes the 7.5 and 7.625 are the same just different gear size.
the is a cheaper alternitive to that posi swap.
check out www.slponline.com they have a zexel posi unit for 7.625/28 spline rears its only $99.00 on sale for like $84.00

i belive 84 has 26 spline axles, the zexel posi is for 28 spline.

how much power can that zexel posi handle? my SS limited slip doesnt do sh*t anymore, and im putting out somewhere around 360 hp at the crank, not including the nx kit or blower i want to put on...

not sure but 360 might be a bit much. since slp takes them out of cameros after they do some mods because they won't hold up to the increased hp.
what motor do you have, must be a v8? right?????

going to hold up to long.
