Hi all! Ive reached the point in my 5.3 swap where I’m trying to figure out hoses and such for the truck. I’m running corvette accessories with the ls2 water pump and the 1st gen 4.3 HD radiator. I’ve done some reading and I think I’ve seen part number 71994 used for the upper hose? It looks like it might fit from what I’ve seen. The lower hose I’ve seen a few different options but want peoples opinions there.

As far as power steering goes, I’ve read that one of the corvette lines fits like it was made for this, but again, just want opinions and options.

Thanks! We’re getting closer to starting it soon lol.

My swap is a 2nd gen. This is from my build parts list. The radiators are relatively the same.
Cooling system

  • 431305 Radiator (OE 4.3L S10, factory location) & 2nd gen 4.3L front fan shroud
  • Corvette type 2 water pump 89018052 (Chinese knock off) Drilled for steam vent hose above thermostat mounting for ¼ line x 1/8” NPT 90-degree fitting
  • 2004 Malibu cooling fan set, trimmed to fit width.
  • 71994 upper hose 2000-2001 Neon
  • 70792 Lower hose 78-83 Lebaron (cut approx. in ½)
Power Steering

  • Dorman 800-629 5/8” aluminum tube (used to make a feed tube from remote mounted reservoir to P/S pump)
  • 2 ft. Bulk 5/8” to connect reservoir to tube
  • Edelmann 80230 Pressure hose (2004 Corvette)
  • Edelmann 80194 Return hose OE replacement
Hope this helps!

Can I get a picture of you powersteering lines coming off the steering box?
