The steering box in my non zq8 2000 s10 ex cab is a little sloppy so I was going to replace it. I've read some threads on changhing it over to the zq8 box for quicker ratio steering. Are ther any problems that I would run into like the power steering pump or will it increase how far the truck turs a circle?

Please list any pros or cons of doing this thanks

It doesn't have to be a z box..You can get a box from different
Camaros and Firebirds, etc for a quicker ratio. I use one that
fit the 88 Monte Carlo SS. It's a YA box at 12.7-1 ratio. The
best were/are the WS6 firebirds. 12.7-1 constant ratio V the
variable ratio. Here's list. One just has to be careful which one
has lock to lock turning radius limits. >

Do a valve mod and you'll be surprised at how easy it
is to turn as well..

I've got the above steering box from the Monti SS and I love it. The only precaution is be careful on tight quick right turns, I nearly clipped my 'vette wheels daily for the first week, the truck turns in so quick.

The monte SS box is the best bet, especially if you're going to run wide front wheels and tires. The F-body boxes however have about 25% less total steering angle to them though, so if you're running stock tires up front, you will lose some steering angle and thusly have a wider turning radius. You would have to run something like a 285 up front to need the F-body box stops. The Monte box does have tighter stops, but only about 10%, you would need somewhere around a 255 to rub with a monte box. The ZQ8 box could potentially rub around a 235, depending on height.
