Hello everyone!

Last night I bought a 1997 S-10! It needs a rebuilt transmission and I do not want to take it to a mechanic. I was wondering if anybody on this site had some tips and tricks they would be willing to share, or a guide on rebuilding transmissions. The transmission is a hm290 2wd. Thanks in advance!

That's a good video. Download all of it and save it because you'll be referring back to it many times.
Get a top notch rebuild kit. They aren't particularly cheap, but worth the extra in extended life span.
A good kit will start around $600 and you can add as many upgrades like servos and sunshells as you like or can afford.
And a quality torque converter. You don't need or want a stage 2 or 3 for daily use. Just good upgraded parts.
You're also going to need a few specialty tools, also.
Avoid buying anything from Monster or Mad Dog or other similar slick advertising scammers.
