I have a 88 s10 2.8l I have rebuilt the Tbi new map and tps and it still back fires in the throttle body I have check the timing it’s in time new computer new plugs, wires, dis. Cap and rotor button. At idle it’s fine going down the road it spits and sputtors and just about falls on it’s face
Last truck I had that did that it turned out to be a worn cam lobe.... pulled plug wires one at a time then drove it to
restore my sanity after checking everything else. Turned out to only be on one cylinder so if more than one is worn
this may not work for you.
When you rebuilt the tbi did you get the map plugged back in to the correct port? If its in the wrong one it will run like crap and backfire a lot, especially on deceleration. Exact symptoms depends on which port its plugged into. having one or 2 plug wires mixed up will do it too.
