I have a '96 s-10 2.2L four banger. Engine light on and codes read "random missfire". Pulled the wires with it running and found 1 and 4 cylinders not firing...changed the coils and it worked great for a week...dropped another cylinder...this time only number 1. Changed the control module and still have a dead number 1. If anyone has had this problem or if anyone knows of what to check besides plugs, wires, coils and control module, please help!

I had the same problem and took it in under warranty and they said the number one fuel injector was bad. they replaced it and all is goo.

The injector caused the cylinder to not fire at all. What I mean by no fire is there is no spark at all getting to the plug. I can understand a dead cylinder due to no fuel from a faulty injector, but no spark? I could be wrong.

No mine was just a dead cylinder. It still had spark, but one of the codes it threw was random misfire.
