this mod will work with up to a 5 inch drop in back. when you have a 6 inch drop you need to notch it and move the evap tank. i moved mine to the front of the frame and bolted it in on the inside of the frame.

the evap tank is fine on a 5 inch drop on a 6 inch drop its close to the brake lines you should check it first. but with a 6 inch drop the back will hit you need to notch it. you live in morgan hill im from the city. you slam your truck?

yeah, i slammed it, but i did it a ****ty way just because it is temporary, cuz i am gonna bag it soon. Just waiting on a settlement check. I used Belltech spindles up front and cut the springs, and then have 3" blocks in the rear and monoleafed the stock leafs. The front doesnt ride that bad, just need to remove the inner fenderwells, and the rear is just resting on the shaved down bumpstops. But i only got to drive it with it slammed for like a day and a half because my tranny broke. So it has been parked going on 2 months. It will be back soon though, new tranny and bags.

no, i havent run it at the track, it is only a 2.2 to let you know. But yeah i havent ran it because with a stock 4 there is no reason to. I plan to throw all the performance stuff on it, most of which they make for the Cavelier, but it is the same engine so all the part #'s match up. here is a list of some stuff that i plan to get:
Intake
TB spacer
new head (ported, polished, milled, valves and springs)
roller rockerarms
cam
header
highflow cat.
pullies
Jet chip
power fan
flywheel
sprakplugs and wires
performance clutch

There is more too but i hope to get some horsepower out of this little engine... i know it wont be much but it would be cool to be fast for what it is.

They also sell things for the cavelier that is like a different intake manifold that accepts a large throttlebody off of a GM v8 and they sell pistons and stuff... just a thought:evilg:

and then if they ever come out with the turbo that would be cool to get.

yeah there was a club in town here that was called submerged illusions, they are 'no more' I guess they kicked one guy out that had the red xtreme (he even had a tatoo of the club name 'Submerged Illusions" but yeah they kicked him out and changed the name, haha. I see them driving around but I'm never in my truck so they dont know its me.

yah they had some funk with me at a prior car show. a girl was in it said her 4 sounded like a v8 i was like nah maybe rice. she started it up and man it sounded bad. i told her it sounds like a rice car but lots of my buddys have the same set up and gave them power so its ok. she got mad then when i came around they said my truck is ugly etc that the timeless 5s are old lol i got them over a year ago when they came out. then that my girls blazer x is ugly. go to www.geocities.com/stefannys01blazer

is that ugly?

i hella wanted to come out and start a fight but cops everywhere i just told them remember none of your trucks have 18s or nos and never will in your club that got them pissed and i left lol

Yeah man I know what your girl blazer looks like, i have been following your truck and her blazer for a while on the forums. No her blazer isnt ugly, and no i like the Timeless, those are the wheels i am going to get. Their club is gay anyways, there is one sonoma in the group i see in town, it is a 4.3 5-speed, and it must have that throttlebody spacer cuz it has that supercharged sound. I know that the exhaust setup on a 4 makes a big difference, but i hate it when they sound like ****, i have a setup on my truck that my dad built back when the truck was his, it sounds good: it is split right after the cat and has 2 mufflers and then two pipes running all the way back.., but it sounds good because they are headman turbo mufflers so they arnt too loud, they just have a nice sound. And the tips dont show either they are pointed slightly down right behind the rollpan, so you cant see them, i like it like that.

so if you only hit those bumpstops badly when the truck is lowered, why are they on there when the truck is stock height?? i only ask because i may raise my truck back up depending on how much of a bltch these 18's ariving on monday are gonna be. if they scrub too bad, i'll raise it back to the stock zq8 height, which 18's would still look budder on. what kind of effects would removed bump stop brackets have on a stock height truck, any?

That is right

That is exactly right. I used tohit mine whenIhad the bed fully loaded with 48 cases of soft drinks (rode home on the stops). I don't do this anymore so I don't notice that they are gone (except when I have 3 people and 4 coolers inthe back) thats when the rear comes up and hits the frame, but hte rest of the time I never notice them gone (BTW i have ZQ8 springs w/ 2' spindles and 3" blocks).

Hey 98SSonNOS when you coming down to SCali to lower my truck :) Seriously though... Am I gonna be happy at 3/4 or do most end up going to 4/5 because 3/4 isnt quite enough. Originally I wanted just a 2/3.. Now I definetly want a 3/4 but here I am.. hmmmm 4/5 looks pretty sweet! What you think?

you will be fine. what i do on some trucks is that i take the bumpstops off then have like a thick rubber pad i cut and use liquid nails to glue it to the frame. to make a long story short it hits the pads and doesnt make a loud noise. but with a 5 inch drop in back you will be fine, it shouldnt hit especially if you have good shocks. but it might on a big bump

help me plz

how would mine work out, im petrafied to do it jus in case i still bottom out hard on the meduim bumps. 4/5 drop chasis tech 3" leafs with 2" blocks w/ belltech shocks, i jus shaved mah stops down to 2" and im still feeling the stops hitting.
do you think by removing the brackets i should get enough clearance and not bottom out like im doing now? i tried riding w/ no stops, and on the bumps i hit Hard, which sucked, cuz its ride was like a stock truck ride..... was so strange to feel a nice ride :)
anyways, keep me updated so i know if next weekend i need to cut em off completely, thanks

i just did the other sonoma in our club today lowered 5 inches in back and its fine. no hittin at all. i told him to get a rubber pad and put it on the frame.

i was running nos and a 7 inch drop like i have now without a notch and it was hitting all the ****in time, really bad when i hit the bottle but now with the notch im fine. are you going to the car show in november in pleasanton were gonna head up there.

dude your not gonna bottom out you will be fine. even if you do, by having that rubber strip there it will cushion it. the guy today had his cut down to but he cut them to much so the axle would hit the metal part of the bumpstop, so this was his only choice. he paged me likea hour ago saying the ride was so much better and no bottoming out.

if you want come up to the city ill cut them for you. im lowering some s10 from brisbane a shop heated his front springs so much that the lower a arm and frame are touching. its like a 5 inch drop with the springs.
