My 2000 Blazer ZR2 has the typical GM hood and roof clear coat damage. I plan on sanding it down r to remove the damaged clear coat off, repainting with new clear coat or hit it wit a little original color and then re-clear coat. PITA but should not be big job.

PPG and others now have good single stage paints that don't need clearcoat.

industrial usage paints for big rigs, farm equipment street signs etc.
i wouldnt put single stage on any vehicle i value.

Every 90’s-early 2000’s Gm truck has a messed up hood and roof unless it was always garage kept lol

Sorry, my 1992 S10 bought new and never garaged didn't have paint issues. It did rust out pretty good though in the 17-years that I had it. Built at the Louisiana plant location if I recall.

I've dealt with all the peeling clearcoat I ever care to. I can't garage all my stuff, don't have the space. I don't build show cars, just drivers that will outlive me, so I'll hang with the single stage. And there are plenty of clears that can be sprayed over the single to give it similar protection to the 2-stage.
I don't have anything worth over $10K, my money goes into more valuable investments, cars and trucks are just a hobby.

Our 2002 hood and roof is so badly checked, we think we will have it stripped and the have a primer coat applied. The sun here in Mexico is brutal and it has to be kept outside. Never knew that they used water base paint....wow

This hood is going to need some re-sprayed paint, so at this point professional help should be sought, but I've got 2 arms and some sand paper, it's like taking your ride to the cheapest ES paint sprayer and asking for the cheapest they got, prep work is key to any job so I'm simply taking layers off at a time until I reach the paint and take that off 2
