I am not sure if my dad's 99 s10 has proper oil pressure. It used to be that when you would have the oil filled properly, oil pressure looked okay. Now since the engine burns oil and my dad has let it get low, oil pressure seems to shoot up and stick around 80 psi. So, when the oil is low, I get 80psi and it doesn't vary with rpm until you have driven for a little while. It doesn't seem to make sense that oil pressure would be higher with less oil. Unless something got screwed upr from running with low oil? I was thinking it may just be the sending unit, but I thought I'd check here first.

Any thoughts?

thanks alot

Okay, I just never remembered it being that high before. I don't drive the truck often because it is my dad's. But does it sound normal that it doesn't vary with rpm all the time (but does sometimes)?
