I have a 2003 Chevy s10 4.3 with 179000 on it and the thing runs amazingly and I love the truck but the oil pressure worry’s me on start up I have 45 psi of pressure at idle and upon warning up it stays steady at 15 to 20 psi I’ve changed the oil recently as well are the sensors in the trucks common to fail? Also when I cut the truck off the pressure stays at 15 till I cut the truck back on so maybe the gauge is messed with as well idk id like some options thank you

You could have avoided this by using 5th grade English skills. Take a week off, stand in the corner with Willie Oleson, and practice.

Oh...BTW...your pressure is fine. These gauges are not the most accurate. Put a mechanical gauge on it to confirm pressure.

Highly second mech oil gage. Being old skool I use SW oil and temp gages on all my stuff. They tell the truth.

I have a question, that relates to this thread.

My oil pressure reads low as well on my 94S-10 Blazer. The oil pressure switch is a 3 wire of which if I'm not mistaken, one wire goes to the fuel pump and if the oil pressure gets too low, the sending unit will cut the fuel pump to save the engine.

How would one go about installing a mechanical gauge and deal with the wiring to the fuel pump??

I agree it's the OEM gauges in the cluster that are of questionable reads.....
