Mod: Intake(ditched a headlight and ran a funnel to direct air), 2.25" exhaust w/high flow cat, Al's Header, E-fan, Asp pullies, IAT mod(worthless) I had a jet stage II and venom 400pcm but they actually decreased my times. Tires, 255/55/15

It wouldn't be that hard to run 14's if the truck was pushin' 15# of boost, was hooking up & had a good low gear to multiply torque.
A 700R4 trans with a 4.10 or lower axle (lower the better) &posi trac, would do great.
Simple math is key here.
2.2L = 132 cu in
2.2L w/14.7# boost (double atmosphere) = 264 cu in.
most v8's stock put out like 80% volumetric efficincy so it looks like this
355 cu in x .80% = 284 cu in.

Since a turbo properly set up will deliver 100% volumetric efficency plus the 2.2 has half the reciprocating drag. Less pistons & lighter crank etc.

Anyway... If we reversed the 2.2 w/ 14.7# boost to an normally aspirated
it would be something like this

264 devided by 80% = 330 cu in...

Properly geared a 327 chevy (stock) with low gears & good grip will push most s10's well into the mid 14 second range.

The big advantage that the turbocharged 2.2 would have over a big v8 is the absense of brutal torque so the 0-60 times would be easier on the hook.
i.e. most v8's have a little trouble with smooth launches & have wheel spin...

Time slips can be fabricated so I wouldn't even go there...

One final thought my friends....
A rocket will get you there the fastest, but nothing sounds like a v8... ~Jim

first run ever:

19.7 @ 73, grinded second gear, then went to fourth, then finally found second. Embarrassed the shit out of myself and threw that slip away

second run: 18.1 @ 75

R/T ... 0.554 (R/T doesn't count towards total time)

Clutch was slipping badly during the burnout and a little off the line. I parked the truck after that.



98 reg cab 5 speed, stock motor with all kinds of exhaust leaks and a bad EGR valve.

lots of heat soak, launched at 2300, (brakes wouldn't hold boost) had to adjust the rear brakes up after that pass but was fighting heat soak (about 100* out).
anyway first pass was a 13.86 followed by two 13.96's and then a 14.1 in about a 30-40 mph headwind. decided to call it a night after that
I'll post exact timeslip details when i get off work.

ok got my official time for the 2.2l turbo 7 psi of boost and on street tires with air ride(wheel hop sucks)

DTS kit. No Cat. 2.5in exhaust all the way, Synchronic bov.

I had quite a bit of slip-age I believe my times would have been better if i had a locking diff. That was my very first time at the track as well.

If i go again with the same set up I am going to ice the intercooler.

The stock kit is set up for 8 psi. I have a MBC but, I dont' feel comfortable enough running more boost considering the Manual FMU is a 12:1.

Ok i cant get a pic yet but i will be able to in the next week and i have a base standard cab with no cat or muffler cold air intake iat bypass 5 speed trans bosch plantnum plus u grove plugs i believe thats it if i think of more i will post it
