I've had a local trans. shop rebuild my nv1500 abt a year before this: While shifting from 3rd to what I swear was 4th (met no resistance, no gears gind, and acted exactly as though I'd shifted into 4th) right as I released the clutch (35-40 mph btw) the vehicle stops, tires chirp a skid and I pop it in to neutral with my heart lurching out of my chest in fear.
As of right now, the truck shifts, and runs, everyone says I shifted into reverse. It rattles, and sounds like grinding, and can feel it in the shifter and hear it even in neutral. Since then I've driven it up to 3rd, and even reversed.
I thought it had a reverse inhibitor? Ive learnt that the reverse has a synchronized reverse gear, I heard no grinding while i was shifting, or releasing the clutch.
Doesnt a manual stall when you go into reverse from forward?
I need help actually knowing what happened with the trans, if I'm completely shot in the foot or only nicked. What all do I need to do to get my beloved truck back to road ready?
