Hey,

I know this isn't necessarily the proper place for this...

But is there any way you could private message me?

I have a question regarding a disc brake swap on the rear of a first gen Blazer and I tried messaging you but the site wouldn't allow me to because I just registered my account.

Thanks in advance, Ken
Ken, You have to wit 24 hours before you can PM. Too many aholes joined so they could spam the site. The mods kept 24 hours as a "Joining time" You can PM me tomorrow.

BTW, all of my S10s that have rear disc brakes - I sourced a complete rear end with the G80 (posi) option at local upulls
It's easier to swap the entire axle assembly than adapt discs to a non disc rear end.

Jayhawke - I thought about the horse blankets, but the truck is too nice for that. I'm going for a super clean interior with improvements in upholstery and flooring.
I'm going to have the seating surfaces recovered in beige cloth with pleats.
SMoo? Where did that come from? A cartoon?
I looked for quite a while - thrift stores etc. Finally found this.
It gets a lot of smiles at traffic lights.
I had a 5 legged 5 arms purple people eater before, but he suffered from road debris and dirt. I may try washing him...

New brown carpet arrived. Nice piece.
Too bad the edges aren't bound - they're raw.
Looks like I'll have to custom fit the carpet and take it to a carpet guy and have the edges bound.
Now it's time to order some Dyna Mat

Since I'll be doing some traveling with this rig, I finally installed the CB radio. I hid the wires the other day too.
Motor vehicle Steering wheel Car Steering part Mode of transport

I also installed an oil pressure gauge. The engine runs 60 lbs of pressure almost all of the time. Hot engine idling is 40 lbs. The truck runs really well.

I have an appointment for front end alignment next week. The truck looks like it has too much positive camber and is wearing the (newish) tires on the outer edges. Not happy about that.
I'd rather have slight negative camber for improved handling.

At the same time, I'll ask the shop if they will install the 5 speed transmission I sourced at a upull.

Front end alignment - done.
The guy who did the job said the toe in was WAY off. I guess it was since the front tires were being erased with little mileage on them.
The truck actually feels better. Going over road imperfections is smoother now.

Made an appointment to have the 5 speed installed. $400.
Better than groveling on the ground (?)

Also have an appointment to have the bench seat custom recovered with cloth and pleats.
Carpet at the same time.

More pix soon.

Welllllllll.... Change of plans.
My assignment in Carson City is ending this Friday.
What does that mean?
Time to drive to Baton Rouge.
Cancel the transmission change, and the interior improvement.
Rent a tow dolly, load the S10 on it, clear out my storage unit and drive - A LOT.
It's about 2,065 miles one way. 31 hours straight drive time.
And Texas is one MF big State. Blah.

Welll... once again - a change of plans.
Working for the Feds is so rewarding :(

Anyway, received a call yesterday re-deploying me to another assignment. They weren't sure where at first.
Two hours later - another call.
Tuba City Arizona. FTW. Where the hell is Tuba City?
Subject to change at a moment's notice.

Don't know how that's going to work, but I guess I'll be finding out soon enough.
It's only a 13 hour drive... :cautious:

^^^ :p

I guess this rig is going to get a serious work out.
I rented a tow dolly, and am going to load the "race truck" on it. (Another thread soon)
I'm also emptying my storage unit and loading both trux with the crap.
Google says its a 500+ mile trip at 13 hours. I bet it takes more like 16 hours.
More to come...
