Ok, I've got a 2001 S10 4x4 extended cab with the 4.3L V6 and an automatic transmission. Has about 148,000 miles on it. Just put in a new battery. Alternator is charging. When you go out and try to start the truck it turns over great. You can try a few times but it won't actually start and keep running. But if you let it sit for 15-20 minutes or so, it will start right up but has a strong fuel smell possibly from unburned fuel from not starting previously??? And it runs smooth and idles fine. Only thing done recently is a new starter installed and it sounds good. Should I add some fuel injection cleaner to the tank?? Change out the injector assembly? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated....

Fuel injector cleaner has no effect on poppet valves. That said, you may have a bad/leaking FPR. You can get them separately from the spider, but if you're that far into it, just get the updated spider with real injectors. When you remove the upper intake, look for washing. Usually most visible at the rear of the driver side.
