Hi I've been reading and using your guys post, guides, how to's, and debates quit often. Even before signing up. 1st time posting so please forgive me if it's not where it's supposed to be or anything else. Also at this time I'm stuck using my phone. So please forgive me if missing punctuation etc. Can't honestly say would probably be much better on the comp.

Have a few and then some questions. On this forum I've dug off on pretty extensively but with no success or only bits of info found that isn't enough or enough for me to figure it out. Doesn't mean its not somewhere on here. Just I'm about to run out of time on a few of these. The Sonoma isn't to heavy to push; but the heat might kill me doing it or the traffic on hwy. (Houston / N. Of)But alot Less questions than would've had though.

-Has anyone came up with a way to bypass manual fan pulley? ( Or any wild might work overt hought or under thought ideas) 2 reasons. 1st bearings going on mine. Found the bracket / fan pulley bearing housing. Just that cost for what should be $15 bearing. The real irony for a pulley don't need anymore. ( Did E-fan mod)

-Since going to have to pull that bracket to replace it / the bearing. It's probably more than time to replace the timing chain or at least as preventative maintenance ( Don't know if has ever been done or not and at 187k) Just like everyone on here though. Have put alot of time, money, and work to bring this truck back to life. To have it jump time on me after everything would be heart breaking and wallet couldn't take it lol. Reading through the forum everybody says go with OEM ACDelco (always agree on this) looking and digging through about any parts place I know of or can find online. It's either discontinued on the GM ones and dealer. Or I'm only able to get just the chain that's AC Delco and not the whole setup being chain, tensioner, and gears. So if anyone knows were can order ACDelco for less than a mtr. Or the 2nd in line for longevity (very hard comparison i know) please let me know. (Looked at the tensioner eliminater one but reading through forum seen alot of don't do it warnings just nothing completely definitive as to issue)

- Rebuilt my a/c compressor last year ( had time and never rebuilt one before plus Im tightwad when chance of diy projects) worked out great after getting bearings pressed out was alot easier than thought it would be just make sure to set gap correctly on clutch. Then just like me luck seams to go alot more than not. A few months ago had no cold air. I had put the dye in just in case. Turns out the line they routed under compressor and over towards passenger side has a leak right after crimp were rubber starts. After doing compressor last year was when I found out about upgrading system to the newer style compressor. Little late though.
Is there any way to use the newer line think they call it suction line or anyone figured out how to route that line around the front? Or any other way besides below the compressor.

-The floor vent constantly blowing and blowing harder the faster you go. I read a few different post over it but.. Had no success with the fixes I did see. One was detaching grey line from the system. Didn't effect floor vent issue for mine. When I replaced the heater core I checked and went ahead and replaced all vacuum actuators as well as the 1 motorized actuator. Checked each vac. Line and the switch for the system. Resealed the floor vent door. As the flap was rotted.

- I know crammed alot of crap into one sorry. Post ( just trying to be like the engineers when they did this 96)
Last one for awhile. I read a post on here. That can supposedly remove abs and run lines into master cylinder without adding proportion valve. Drum in back disk in front. Does that seem accurate to anyone?

:confused:Removed A/C? What 'd you use to twist the water neck? Also guessing you have the same setup on throttle body made on to intake cover ? Trying to see how you ran your cai. And what's the pipe coming from exhaust manifold? And thats actually the subtlest reply compared to what I thought was going to receive

Agreed not hard replacement. But know its not a big amount but would like to eliminate the drag from it. (Every little bit and way can squeeze just little more umf from it lol. Know from still having my '86 gmc short wide that the wrong words to use but have put more in this truck and fixing to put more into it than wanted planned etc. 1st got it for my grocery getter. Became everyday driver than some.

2nd owner 186k the guy before me ran nothing but water in it seemed bought it a year and half ago. 2 months after having it I flushed coolant system day after that coolant coming out center radiator.replaced complete coolant system them.heater core all pipes/hoses And then head gasket between 3 & 4 went. So tore down checked head for warp and did dye penetrate test. Valve seat test. Was lucky. So replaced head gasket, valve seals, lifters, injectors, pcv, port and polished head & throttle body, added cai, efan, header, under drive pulleys (biggest gain seen)fyi the guy is an hr away from me found out went picked them up from him he makes all of them for every cmpny. Motor mounts, transmount, all u joints, carrier bearing ( wish could've found single piece driveshaft),diff seal. And got new push rods setting here was waiting to do the 1.6 full rollers same time. But jumped the gun without complete research and bought 7/16 instead of the 3/8 got good deal but only seen a little bit of how to go to 7/16 instead. Dont know length of stud need length of poly locks need and think what i was reading said need to change to the cavalier cover and something else so 🤬

Now to keep it going down road need complete new front suspension working at buying, new springs in fro ,new leaf springs in back, the eylet for the bolts to go through that hold the leaf spring rubbers gone in it,just got stage 1 clutch (my throw out bearing is bout to go got new flywheel cant remember cmpny but just found out there is an 8 or 9lbs one instead of this 15lbs one) going to fo front & rear seal of trans while out and seems input shaft bearing not to bad to do, while trans out have to lift up mtr and change oil pan gasket/rear seal, might as well do oil pump while there. Then have to do something with this fan bearing and while there might as well do time and chain. And there's the ac line still. So really dont want to spend the 70 on bearing and if i dont set my self up with the fall back for Manuel fan then will force me to keep efan upgrade. Oh removed cat as well. Friend has a flowmaster 60 serious for can get but not sure how would sound behind 4 banger

Yeah, no A/C or power steering. It doesn't look that good anymore since I drive it in the winter, but I'm working on another build that probably won't have a heater either, or a brake booster.

The water neck is different because it's a 98+ motor, the bracket was pretty similar if not the same though. My intake is plastic with a Quad4 throttle body. The CAI is just a K&N system for 98+ engines. Pipe coming out of the exhaust manifold is for the air injection that VIN5 & H motors have.

His set up is killer.
Aw. thanks brah!

Gotta say that engine looks so clean without the fan pulley!
I lust after a clean 2.2 😂😂.

I checked my chain tensioner at 270k miles and seemed is great condition. Possible was changed by the original owner. Ether way I sent it.

For me I’m fine with no AC. Mainly because I want my stainless header to be somewhat visible 😂 the Ac condenser basically blocks the whole view

Also I was running no cat straight to a single on/out flowmaster FX. And gawd it was loud. Additionally I was getting less MPG’s due to not having enough exhaust back pressure for the o2 sensor to properly adjust air/fuel.
After putting my cat back on not only did I notice better fuel mileage but also my low end torque was much better.
